Wolves bowed out of the Knockout Cup despite the best efforts of Niels Kristian Iversen against Eastbourne. The Dane scored 15 points in a 52-40 win at Monmore Green, a result that saw Wolves go out 102-82 on aggregate. With team owner Chris van Straaten planning changes at the end of the month, several riders were trying to secure their immediate futures. "We talked about the pressure on the team, and I must say there was some good spirit," said van Straaten. "We were always going to be up against it and I thought it was an excellent meeting. Now we have to show similar spirit when we go to Swindon on Thursday." Wolves hope to have skipper Freddie Lindgren back in time for that Elite League meeting against the leaders after his recovery from rib injuries. Iversen had scoring help from David Howe, Ales Dryml and Kenneth Hansen with nine points each, Christian Hefenbrock adding seven. British champion Scott Nicholls was Eastbourne's top scorer with 12 points, Cameron Woodward chipping in with seven.
