Lowes rides for MSS Kawasaki in the British Superbike championship |
Lincoln's Alex Lowes has been drafted in to the Castrol Honda World Superbike team for the next round of the series in Brno, Czech Republic on July 8-10. Lowes, 20, replaces Jonathan Rea who suffered arm and collarbone injuries in a crash at Misano. "This is an incredible opportunity," he said. "I keep pinching myself because I'm riding for one of the world's best race teams in the World championship. "I know I have a lot to learn but I want to make the most of this." It is the second time this year that Lowes, whose twin Sam races in the World Supersport Championship, has been brought in to a team to deputise for an injured rider. He has signed for MSS Kawasaki in British Superbikes for the remainder of the season after Stuart Easton was hurt in a crash at the North west 200 in Northern Ireland. "It's never ideal getting a ride because another rider has been hurt, but it's now happened to me twice this season," he said. "I hope Jonathan's injuries heal quickly and that he's back on the bike soon."
