Lowes has won five of the opening six races in the BSB Evo class this year |
Lincoln's Alex Lowes has left the WFR Honda British Superbike team after the two failed to agree a contract. Lowes, 20, who had been riding on non-contract terms, leads the BSB Evo class with five class victories in six races and a best overall finish of fifth. It is believed the split came after Lowes rejected a long-term management deal with the outfit. He tweeted: "Still can't believe it but thank you to all the guys at WFR for the races we did, really enjoyed it." Team manager Myles Schofield said: "I am very disappointed that we have not been able to reach an agreement. "Alex is a very talented motorcycle racer with a bright future. I wish we'd been able to help him realise his full potential both on track and commercially but these things don't always work out how you'd planned." It is not yet known if Lowes, whose twin Sam races in the World Supersport championship, has lined up a replacement ride with another team.
