Gloucestershire's Moto 2 rider Scott Redding has signed a new two-year deal with the Marc VDS Racing Team.

The 17-year-old penned his original deal in January having decided to move up from the 125cc class.

"I'm pleased to have signed the deal as it means we don't need to worry about the next two years," Redding told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"It means I can concentrate on getting good results and doing the best at every race."

The new deal will see Redding spearhead the Marc VDS Racing Team's assault on the Moto2 World Championship in 2011 and 2012.

"Marc van der Straten, the Team President, came up to me after a couple of good results and asked me about next year," said Redding.

Our aim for next year is to get into the top three or top five or even win it

"I said to him I've learnt more with you guys this year than in the previous five with all my other teams.

"So the best option was to stay with Marc VDS."

Earlier this month Redding was involved in the accident that killed Shoyza Tomizawa at San Marino.

"For me it's brought me and the team closer together because without them I don't know what I would be doing right now," he said.

And, despite the tragic events of four weeks ago, the Quedgeley rider still remains as ambitious as ever.

"Our aim for next year is to get into the top three or top five or even win it," added Redding.

"We've got to be strong from the word go but there's no reason why we can't do it."
