Redding won the British 125cc Grand Prix in 2008 |
Scott Redding will race in the Moto 2 championship at Aragon this weekend. The Quedgeley rider needed 12 stitches in his back after being involved in the accident in which Shoya Tomizawa died. Redding told BBC Gloucestershire: "The whole point of competing in sport is to win. It's my worst accident and I hope I don't experience it again. "The last week hasn't been as bad as people imagine. I went to Marbella with Danny Webb. I was just quiet and kept myself to myself." Redding tested at the Aragon circuit earlier in the year, and hopes to improve his points tally for the season at a track which is new to the Moto 2 Championship. "A lot of the braking is downhill but it's a nice circuit, really up and down. They've sold around 50,000 tickets and there's a nice atmosphere around the circuit. The fans love their racing here," he said. "I went testing in Valencia on Monday. The bike was a bit of a mess after the crash but the mechanics re-built it, they've done a great job and it's ready to go again." The 17-year-old was unable to avoid colliding into Tomizawa during the San Marino Grand Prix earlier this month as the Japanese teenager died.
