Dad unsure unsure on Scott Redding future

Scott Redding's father has revealed his son's anguish at being involved in the crash which killed Shoya Tomizawa at the San Marino Grand Prix.

The 19-year-old died after coming off his bike and colliding with Alex de Angelis and Redding in the Moto2 race.

"Scott's a bit beaten up and feels very sad for all that's happened," Adrian Redding told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"Scott's only 17 and for a young person I think it's a bit of an ordeal for him," he added.

Redding suffered cuts to his back in the accident and needed 10 stitches to repair his wounds.

He has now left San Marino for the south of Spain where he will continue his recuperation.

After a week's break he is due to do two days of testing in Valencia before heading off to Aragon for the next round of the championship.

He has been racing all his life really so he is quite strong minded

Adrian Redding on son, Scott

"I don't know whether Scott will carry on after or not," his father said.

"I want him to and everybody wants him to but it's his decision at the end of the day.

"I was at home watching it and to see that happen in front of me - I just can't say how that felt.

"Last night (Sunday) when I spoke to him he didn't sound like the Scott I knew - he was ever so down and quiet.

"But he's with a good team and there are good people around him so I hope they can put him on a clear path.

"He has been racing all his life really so he is quite strong minded."
