Eastbourne Eagles co-promoter Mike Bellerby says he is confident the team will be running in 2011.

Their future had been threatened when Bob Dugard stepped down as promoter.

He told a BBC Sussex fans forum: "We're getting an extremely positive attitude coming through from fans for what we've done for the start of this season.

"If we can take that support to future meetings there's every indication we can look forward to a successful year and speedway continuing in 2011."

Mike Bellerby and fellow co-promoter Trevor Geer, answered questions live on BBC Sussex with captain Cameron Woodward.

"If we can really start the season off in a winning mode, if Cam and the lads can do the business for us, fans won't want to miss a meeting," Bellerby added.

Bellerby feels the squad looks in good shape for the coming season, which opens when the Eagles take on Peterborough on Saturday.

"We are very pleased with the team line-up, I think we have every chance of challenging for league honours this season with the line-up we have got," he said.

"It's a very good blend, they all look very good at practice and I think they are going to gel excellently as a team together."
