Foxhill will host a round of the British Championships |
Organisers are hoping for a crowd of 10,000 when the Foxhill circuit hosts the sixth round of the British Motocross Championships on 26 July. The track, near Swindon, was renowned for the sport before problems at its 2000 Grand Prix meant it did not stage a major event for eight years. Course designer Paul O'Gorman told BBC Wiltshire last year's round of the championships there was a success. "The racing was good. Everything worked really well and we had no problems." Wiltshire-based Stephen Sword and Billy MacKenzie took the honours in their respective classes watched by a crowd of 6,000. Landowner Genevieve Mather was proud to see the circuit successfully host a top-level event again. "It was a great success. We've made various changes to the track and we've been able to look at it much more professionally," she said. "It's a good day out, a great spectator sport. It's one of the best tracks in Europe."
