Haslam maintains winning streak

Leon Haslam
Haslam has won four of the last five races in BSB

Leon Haslam claimed victory in race two at the 10th round of the British Superbike Championships at Croft.

Haslam, riding for Louth-based HM Plant Honda, came second to Leon Camier in race one and is now second in the title race, four points ahead of Tom Sykes.

He said: "I felt I'd done enough to win the first race as well, but the points have moved me to second."

Haslam's team-mate Cal Crutchlow took fourth and third in the two races to maintain fourth place in the standings.

Camier's Airwaves Ducati team-mate Shane Byrne has a 94-point advantage over Haslam, and needs only six points from the last two rounds to clinch his second BSB title.

In Superstock, Lincoln's Alex Lowes, making a guest appearance on the Gearlink Kawasaki, finished 17th, while Boston's Ben Wilson had two podium finishes, coming home second in both the R1 Cup and the Superstock race.

I just sailed past him and was gifted third place. When you are given it, take it!

Superstock racer Peter Hickman
Wilson admitted: "I am pretty pleased with that result, my lap times were consistent and my fastest lap was just eight-hundredths of a second away from the lap record."

Peter Hickman also stood on the podium in Superstock after passing Steve Brogan between the final corner and the chequered flag to take third.

The Alford rider said: "I don't quite know what Brogan was doing but he looked over his shoulder and must have shut the throttle off at the same time.

"I just sailed past him and was gifted third place. When you are given it, take it!"

The third county rider in Superstock, Lincoln's Lee Jackson, came home in eighth.
