Plater's win was his second in four supersport races |
Lincolnshire's Steve Plater claimed victory at his home circuit of Cadwell Park in Monday's ninth round of the British Supersport championships. Plater clinched victory on the AIM Yamaha on the final lap, overtaking Glen Richards at Park corner. He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I had to bide my time and make it happen on the last lap in the right area, and my plan worked perfectly. "To win in front of my family, friends and fans is absolutely awesome." In the same race Ruskington's Rob Frost came home in seventh place on the Team Buff Triumph, having started on the fifth row of the grid. Alford's Peter Hickman claimed his first podium finish of the season with third place in the Superstock race, ahead of Boston's Ben Wilson who was fifth and Lincoln racer Lee Jackson who came ninth. Hickman said: "We've been knocking on the door all year and finally it's all clicked. I'd had a rubbish weekend, I qualified tenth but I made a cracking start and I knew if I did that I had the race pace, so it's absolutely brilliant." As well as his top five finish in Superstock, Wilson came second in the R1 Cup race and there was also a podium finish for Lincoln's Tom Hayward who was third in the 125GP race.
