Laverty 16th in Australian race

Eugene Laverty has picked up six points in the 250cc series

Toomebridge rider Eugene Laverty finished just outside the points in 16th place at the Australian 250cc motorcycle Grand Prix on Sunday.

Laverty remains on his tally of six World Championship points and is 24th in the 2007 standings.

Jorge Lorenzo dominated the Philip Island race on his Aprilia, finishing over 19 seconds ahead of the rest and leads the championship by 45 points.

Another Spaniard Alvaro Bautista was second ahead of Andrea Dovizioso.
