Laverty finishes 14th at Estoril

Eugene Laverty has picked up six points in the 250cc series

Toomebridge rider Eugene Laverty secured two championship points after coming 14th in Sunday's 250cc MotoGP at Estoril in Portugal.

Laverty, on board a LCR Honda, took his points tally for the season to six.

Spain's Alvaro Bautista won the race ahead of Italian Andrea Dovizioso with series leader Jorge Lorenzo back in third on an Aprilia.

Laverty, in his first season at grand prix level, will be back in action next Sunday at Motegi in Japan.
