Jeremy McWilliams is set to make a surprise return to the MotoGP series after being named as a rider for the WCM Bimota team for the 2006 season. Northern Irishman McWilliams is on the provisional entry list released by the FIM, the sport's governing body.
The Belfast-based rider is to be joined on the WCM Bimota team by American unknown Jason Perez.
McWilliams, 41, endured a torrid time on the Stobart Honda in last year's British Superbike Championship.
He is set to become one of four Britons in GPs next season.
James Ellison will also race in MotoGP on the Tech 3 Yamaha, Chaz Davies is in the 250cc class on the Campetella Aprilia and 15-year-old Bradley Smith in 125s on the Repsol Honda.
