Fogarty wants to stay in World Superbikes

The team's contract with the Malaysian fuel supplier ends next season and, after four years of limited success, there have been doubts over its future.

"I have a contract with Petronas which runs until the end of 2006 and I intend honouring that," said Fogarty.

"I'm linked with everything going but I will be in World Superbikes next year."

Foggy Petronas duo Steve Martin and Garry McCoy have only qualified 21st and 28th for Sunday's races at Brand's Hatch, and former Foggy rider Troy Corser is now leading the standings, having left the team to join Suzuki.

"It's a difficult situation and first we'll have to sit down with the people from Petronas to see what they want to do," said Fogarty, a four-time World Superbikes champion.

"As yet I've had no discussions with anyone regarding MotoGP and I don't know where we'll be in 2007 because there are so many rumours flying about.

"The first step is for Petronas to work out what they want to do long-term now Sauber are being sold.

"At least we know Petronas will be undertaking more engine development over the winter in time for next season.

"So hopefully the bike will be more competitive - but my gut feeling is that it won't be."
