Formula 1 big picture is a feature designed to showcase a side of the sport that is sometimes missed on television.

As well as being dramatic and exciting, F1 is also a sport where beauty is visible at every turn.

Whether it is the curves of the cars, the drama and personality provided by the drivers, or the attractiveness of the setting, F1 is one of the world's most photogenic sports.

Over the last 20 years, Darren Heath has carved a reputation as one of F1's most original photographers.

This is his story behind his image from the Monaco Grand Prix:

"Powering along the short straight that leads to the Tabac corner, Mark Webber steers his Red Bull RB6 majestically around Monaco's sinuous streets on his way to a dominant victory at this the jewel in the crown of the grand prix season.

"Many within and without the sport are having to re-evaluate their opinions of the Australian ace right now.

"For most, Webber has always been regarded as something of a bit-part player - making up the numbers and always destined to play second fiddle to F1's superstars.

"But with two dominant back-to-back wins in a week on two very different circuits the world championship leader is starting to prove his doubters wrong.

"When Webber is on it, as in Catalunya and Monaco, he's just about unbeatable, and he reduced team-mate and perceived team leader Sebastian Vettel to the role of a number two.

"Gaining exclusive access to the best terrace in Monaco, I trained my lens on the scene below trying to get across just what a special place for a grand prix the Principality is.

"The iridescent blue of the water, the yachts, the trees and an awesome race car all provided just about all I could wish for."
