Formula 1 big picture is a feature designed to showcase a side of the sport that is sometimes missed on television.

As well as being dramatic and exciting, F1 is also a sport where beauty is visible at every turn.

Whether it is the curves of the cars, the drama and personality provided by the drivers, or the attractiveness of the setting, F1 is one of the world's most photogenic sports.

Over the last 20 years, Darren Heath has carved a reputation as one of F1's most original photographers.

This is his story behind his image from the Australian Grand Prix:

"Seemingly staring in to space, Mark Webber sits motionless in his Red Bull RB6.

"At his home race, every F1 driver feels extra pressure as a nation expects but, when you're as proudly Aussie as Mark is, that pressure can become a burden.

"With a car as blisteringly quick as Adrian Newey's latest charger is, Webber is fully aware that this is a defining season and not a chance to waste.

"As a photographer one is often trying to convey the innermost emotions of one's subject and that's exactly how I approached this shot.

"Using the thin gap between the bodywork and the TV monitor to frame Mark's eyes has effectively isolated the focal point of the picture.

"Indeed, shooting 'through' objects in this way has always been a favoured technique I employ often as doing so always adds drama and interest to the image.

"As the season progresses I'm sure the pressure Mark felt in Melbourne will only increase."
