Formula 1 big picture is a feature designed to showcase a side of the sport that is sometimes missed on television. As well as being dramatic and exciting, F1 is also a sport where beauty is visible at every turn. Whether it is the curves of the cars, the drama and personality provided by the drivers, or the attractiveness of the setting, F1 is one of the world's most photogenic sports. Over the last 20 years, Darren Heath has carved a reputation as one of F1's most original photographers. This is his story behind his image from the Malaysian Grand Prix: "Blasting past the pits in to lap 44, Felipe Massa picks up a great tow as he closes hard and fast on Jenson Button's McLaren. "Milliseconds later he jinks right, the silver car's slipstream catapulting the Ferrari alongside and past the reigning world champion. "Photographing a grand prix weekend involves a certain amount of planning. "Generally I'll shoot one Friday session in the pits and then concentrate on single car action shots for the remainder of the practice and qualifying runs. "Race day is all about race action. "After working the grid, I shoot the start and then, to a large degree, I'll let the various on track battles determine my race coverage. "Anticipating that Massa was preparing an attack I chose a very slow shutter speed - so as to accentuate the drama of the moment - and as they accelerated towards me panned smoothly with the cars, squeezing the shutter at the moment Felipe made his move."
