50m Formula 1 boost for Cosworth

Northampton-based motorsport engineering company Cosworth have confirmed they will play a part in Formula 1 next season.

Cosworth will provide engines for Manor Grand Prix, Campos Grand Prix and Team US F1, who will all join next season.

The three-year deal with each team is worth a total of around £50m and will create up to 100 jobs in Northampton.

It is unclear who will be joining the new teams next season as a row over the future of F1 is continuing.

The current teams and the FIA are still at odds over new budgetary and technical regulations, with Ferrari remaining adamant they will not take part next season.

All 10 current teams have been included on the list of entrants but five of those are on a conditional basis with Brawn GP, McLaren, Renault, Toyota and BMW Sauber given until 17 June to submit an unconditional entry.
