Sales is already targeting pre-season training in 2010 |
Northants batsman David Sales will miss the whole of the season as he undergoes reconstructive surgery on his troublesome knee. The 31-year-old former captain has not played this summer and now aims to be fit for the start of the 2010 campaign. "Although I could possibly have played this year the longer-term view was that it could flare up again," said Sales. "That would mean missing yet more cricket and even possibly jeopardising my whole career." Sales had a similar operation eight years ago after picking up an injury on tour with England A in the West Indies. He passed 10,000 first-class runs for Northants last season and agreed a new four-year contract to keep him at Wantage Road until at least 2012.
