The logo of Verstappen's sponsor was on the Jordan on Wednesday |
Jordan are on the verge of finalising a deal to sign Jos Verstappen, according to team boss Eddie Jordan. The team unveiled their new car on Wednesday without announcing a team-mate for German Nick Heidfeld.
But Jordan admitted that he was in detailed talks with Verstappen's Dutch sponsor, Trust.
Jordan said: "We know what we want to do and we will make an announcement when we are ready. [But] there is still a seat available."
But Jordan said that he was still in talks with a number of drivers - among them believed to be Britons Ralph Firman and Allan McNish.
Firman drove for the team last year and is trying to raise the sponsorship to buy a drive, while McNish was Renault's test driver in 2003.

"We are talking to a number of drivers and Jos is one of them," said Jordan. "I speak to Ralph all the time, He is a high-quality driver and somebody I particularly like.
"If there is a way to do something to help him get into the team either in a testing role or as a driver then we'll do it."
Jordan, whose team had a terrible season last year, said he was optmistic about the performance of the new car.
"I'm happy to say that the EJ14 is a step forward from last year's car.
"It has been a team effort with our experts from each field contributing their part.
"We've seen the biggest improvement in aerodynamics that we have ever seen from one year's car to another.
"Time will tell whether that means we will catch up with the guys who were ahead of us last year but I am feeling optimistic, as always!"
James Robinson, head of race and test engineering, said: "Technically speaking, it was a problem-free shakedown, which is an excellent start."
