Heidfeld is tipped for a Jordan drive |
Germany's Nick Heidfeld will test for Jordan on Thursday and Friday after the team made a troubled start to the week in Barcelona. Belgium's Bas Leinders started his F1 test debut on Wednesday by crashing on his first lap out of the pits.
Leinders, chasing Jordan's vacant test driver role, completed just six corners. His car had to be re-built.
Jordan have yet to announce their drivers for 2004, but Heidfeld is tipped to get one of the two seats.
Leinders' accident was the second setback in two days for Jordan who are testing for the first time this year.
On Tuesday Germany's Timo Glock went off into gravel on his testing debut and Jordan also lost some more time due to an engine misfire.
Despite that, team boss Eddie Jordan praised Glock's performance: "For Timo's first time in an F1 car, to do over 50 laps of a Grand Prix circuit at the pace he did was very impressive."
Glock will test again on Thursday before Heidfeld, who is seen as Jordan's first choice for a race drive if he can generate significant sponsorship.
