Briton Ralph Firman is still hopeful he can secure a drive at Jordan this year. Firman, who raced for Jordan in his debut Formula One season in 2003, said he was trying to raise the sponsorship funds needed to secure a drive.
"I have been working hard to try to find financial support for the team and have no doubt that Jordan is worth backing," Firman said.
Firman added that he was confident he and Jordan would "make a big step forward" if he drove this year.
Jordan are the only team not to name their drivers for 2004.
Talks with experienced Dutchman Jos Verstappen broke down on Monday, while German Nick Heidfeld and Briton Allan McNish are also possibilities for the team.
Firman acknowledged that some of his performances last year had come in for criticism, but said he felt he did a "pretty professional job". "I know Jordan don't look back on last year with any satisfaction," Firman added.
"They acknowledge it as being their worst ever year and I drove their second car in that year in my first year in F1."
He said he had "an immense amount to bring to Jordan in a second season in F1".
