Four heat victories for Tim Webster were not enough to hand Stoke victory |
Stoke Potters' unbeaten start to 2011 is over after a 53-41 defeat to Hackney at Lakeside in the National League. The Potters, who were without number one Simon Lambert and Ben Reade, were 10 points down within four heats. Tim Webster [14 points] and Jaimie Pickard [11] tried to salvage a bonus point for Stoke, but to no avail. The Potters' next fixture is on 1 May, when they take on Buxton in the first leg of their Knockout Cup tie, with the second leg at Loomer Road on 7 May. Luke Priest and James McBain rode in place of Lambert, who was on Premier League duty with Sheffield, and the injured Reade on Friday. Reade is still recovering after suffering a neck injury in a crash during the victory at Newport five days previously.
