Jonathan Rea says he is happy to be back in the winners' circle after winning at the third round of the World Superbike championship in Holland.

The Isle of Man resident followed his win on Saturday with a podium finish on Sunday to move fourth overall.

"We spent all weekend developing the bike for the races, and that strategy paid off," said the 24-year-old.

Carlos Checa won race two, as front-tyre problems prevented Rea from pressing for a double victory.

After three rounds, the Spaniard has a commanding 43-point lead over Max Biaggi, with Rea just six points off third placed Marco Melandri.

The rider from Northern Ireland continued: "First and foremost, I'm really proud to give the famous Castrol Honda name the first victory on its comeback to this championship.

"The team has worked really well and that's exactly the right sort of confidence and momentum that we need to take to the next races.

"I'm happy to be back where I belong, in the winners' circle, and I look forward to trying to get more wins for the team," he added.

The next round of the series will be in Monza, Italy, from the 6-8 May.
