Toye claimed his first podium at the Macau Grand Prix in 2010
Jeremy Toye will compete at the 2011 Isle of Man TT races for the first time in five years. The American made a big impression at the event five years ago, when he lapped the Mountain Course at over 120mph in his newcomer year. The 35-year-old will compete in the Superbike, Superstock and Senior TT races for British Superbike team Sondel Sport Racing. Toye will be joined in the team by Maidstone's Steve Mercer. Mercer made his TT debut in 2009 and went on to record a best-place finish of 25th in the Superbike race and set a lap of 121mph in the Senior event. The Kent rider further improved in 2010, with a best of 17th in the Senior race and a fastest lap of 124.658mph. Sondel Sport Racing contested the 2010 TT Races with Spanish rider Sergio Romero. The team is run by father and son John and Yonny Weedon, the former no stranger to the Mountain Course. In a TT career that spanned 18 years, John posted 11 top-10 finishes with the highlight being his two second-placed finishes in the 1985 and 1986 Formula 2 Races.
