Isle of Wight finished seventh in the National League 2010 season

Isle of Wight have signed Rob Smith from Rye House Cobras for the 2011 National League season.

Smith, who joins the Islanders as part of a swap deal which sends Ben Hopwood to Rye House, becomes the sixth member of the 2011 squad.

Islanders boss Kevin Shepherd told the club website:"Rob may be a gamble, but the club has total faith in him.

"This leaves one place to fill, we know the rider we want and are just awaiting his promoter's permission to sign him."

The Islanders finished seventh in the league last season and their new campaign starts 19 April, with fixtures yet to be announced.
