Jason King will be fit to captain Newcastle Diamonds in their 2011 campaign after undergoing a successful knee operation.

King was injured in a crash at Glasgow in August and missed the rest of the season with ruptured ligaments.

Diamonds boss George English said: "Everything went well and the fact he was on crutches was simply to keep pressure off the knee for a few days.

"Jay's fitness level won't be a problem by the time the season starts."

He added: "We are very much looking forward to having him back in the team once again."
