The Southern 100 International Road Races at Billown are to be included in the Two-Stroke Racing Supporters Club 250cc Championship in 2011.

The announcement comes just weeks after organisers confirmed that two-stroke racing was guaranteed to be part of this year's July meeting.

Race Secretary George Peach said: "We are honoured that our meeting is to be included in this prestigious series."

The Southern 100 meeting will be run from between 11 and 14 July 2011.

The first of the two eight lap races is to be held on Wednesday, 13 July and the second on Thursday, 14 July.

As organisers we are very honoured that the Southern 100 is to be included in this prestigious Championship and hopefully the two-stroke boys will ensure that the grid is full for the two 250cc races which we run during the July races

Organiser of the land running series, Joe Wright, said: "It's looking really good this year.

"We've had a new sponsor come on board with a vital cash injection to the club, which will see the 250 championship worth a staggering €10,000 in total prize money."

The two Southern 100 races will make up part of the 14 race series, which starts in April at Cookstown.

The championship winner will receive the Gary Dynes Memorial Cup, in memory of one of the great two-stroke riders on his era.

Two-stroke races have been a fixture on the Billown circuit since the early 1960s.

They were scrapped from the TT fortnight in 2006 because of a lack of competitive machinery and a fall in entry numbers.
