Ian Lougher, Ryan Farquhar & Michael Dunlop battle around Billown in 2008 |
Race organisers are appealing for entrants for the two-stroke classes at the Post TT and Southern 100 races to sign up for this year's event. The classes, which see 125cc and 250cc machines race the 4.25 mile Billown course, could be scrapped due to a fall in numbers. Race secretary George Peach said: "Over the past seasons the number of entries has fallen." "We need the firm commitment from riders that they are willing to enter." The Post TT races are due to be run on 11 June and the Southern 100 races from 11 - 14 July. Peach said: "We are able to cater for 32 250cc machines and 36 125cc and I would ask would-be competitors to contact the club to confirm their intentions to enter and compete at the above meetings." Two-stroke races have been a fixture on the Billown circuit since the early 1960s. They were scrapped from the TT fortnight in 2006 because of a lack of competitive machinery and a fall in entry numbers. Race secretary George Peach can be contacted via email georgepeach@manx.net.
