John McGuinness missed the 2010 Ulster Grand Prix |
John McGuinness will return to the Ulster Grand Prix in 2011 to ride for the Honda TT Legends team on 13 August. The Morecambe rider missed this year's event because of a lack of suitable machinery but says he is "very excited" about racing at Dundrod next year. The 15-times TT winner will be joined in the team by Keith Amor, who won the second UGP Supersport race in August. The pair will also compete at the Isle of Man TT in June but look likely to miss the North West 200 in May. The North West event will clash with a round of the World Endurance Championship at Albacete. "I didn't make it to the Ulster this year due to other commitments but I am keen to get back there and give it a go," said McGuinness. I have won there before and I would like to rack up a few more victories at the Dundrod circuit." Neil Tuxworth, manager of the Honda TT Legends team commented: "With the new Honda TT Legends programme, it is now possible for us to participate in great historical road-races such as the Ulster Grand Prix. "Previously other commitments have made it difficult for Honda's official team to attend this event but now we have the resources for this to be possible and want to go there and for our TT Legends team to do well." Ulster Grand Prix clerk-of-the-course Noel Johnston said he was delighted to have secured the signatures of the two top riders on top-class machinery. "This is just the start of what will be a world class line-up at Dundrod in August," he added.
