 Racing starts at the Ulster GP on Saturday as the Superstock riders move off the grid
English rider Ian Hutchinson clinched three wins in a thrilling Ulster Grand Prix at Dundrod on Saturday. Hutchinson won the Superstocks and he again pipped Scotsman Keith Amor in the first Supersport race before taking the opening Superbike race. Amor won the second Supersport race before Bruce Anstey took the second Superbike race with a new record of 133.975mph on a blistering last lap. Ian Lougher won the 250s race with Ryan Farquhar successful in the Supertwins. Amor moved clear in the early laps of the Superstock event but Hutchinson reeled him in before nudging ahead. Falkirk rider Amor regained the lead but a red flag meant the result was decided on positions at the end of the previous lap, leaving Hutchinson as the winner. Dungannon's Farquhar completed the podium places.  |  I really wanted that and the last lap worked out perfectly. |
"I thought Keith was out of reach but I never give in," said Hutchinson. "I like riding round here - anything can happen but I'm delighted we have a Superstock win." The race was stopped after a rider and two spectators were injured in a crash on the circuit. After an hour-long delay organisers decided to reduce races from seven to six laps. Hutchinson, Amor and Michael Dunlop all led during a thrilling first Supersport race but it was the Bingley racer who came out on top to take his fourth UGP success. Dunlop had the consolation of setting a new lap record of 128.60. Dromara-based Welshman Lougher dominated the 250 event with William Dunlop second and his cousin Paul Robinson in third. The opening Superbike race was another close affair between Hutchinson, Amor, Anstey and Guy Martin. Backmarkers helped Hutchinson to move pass Amor on the final lap and New Zealander Anstey also came through to snatch second spot. Amor finally went one better as he earned his first UGP win in the second Supersport race, run over two parts after a crash. Hutchinson led when the race was stopped but Amor was best in the second running and his aggregate time gave him victory. "Winning that was a relief more than anything - Ian and I have been going at it all day and I was determined to finish first," said Amor. The second Superbike started off as another duel between Hutchinson and Amor but Relentless TAS Suzuki rider Anstey burst through for a last-gasp success. "I really wanted that and the last lap worked out perfectly." Hutchinson came in second with Amor in third place.
