Priaulx has won the FIA World Championship three times

Guernsey's Andy Priaulx recorded the fastest time in the first test session for the Armor All Gold Coast 600 at the Queensland Raceway in Australia.

Priaulx recorded a lap time of one minute 11.30 seconds in Tuesday's test, with Ryan Briscoe second in 1:11.90.

Priaulx said: "I think it is very early to read too much into these times as I have raced these cars before.

"Many of my fellow invitational drivers haven't, but it is always good to be at the top of the time sheets."

He added: "It was nice to get back behind the wheel of these machines ahead of our first real test on Friday."

The Armor All Gold Coast 600 which will be held on 22-24 October, is one of only three 600km endurance races in the V8 Championship.

Priaulx is one of 17 guest drivers who will join the competing teams for the race, with each having to drive at least 30% of the overall distance.
