A strong Guernsey side successfully defended the Challenge Cup against Sheffield at the Gremlin Club. Sheffield took an early 3-1 lead, but the next three pairings all drew as Guernsey clawed their way back. Martin Budge and Adam Shorto then overcame David Dalton and Wayne Wooton respectively to edge in front by 8-6. Guernsey's fate eventually rested with Graham Peel and he duly drew the final match 1-1 with David Stevenson to give Guernsey a 9-7 win overall.
