Harvey's win in race two at Monza was his seventh of the season |
Lincolnshire racing driver Jack Harvey finished runner-up in the Formula BMW Europe series following a non-finish and a win in the final round at Monza. Harvey started on pole position in both races but crashed out of the opener after being hit by another driver. He took his seventh win of the season in race two, but rival Robin Frijns finished third to pip him to the title. Harvey told BBC Lincolnshire: "It's a sad way to lose the championship but I couldn't have driven any better." The Fortec driver added: "We were second in race one and just got pushed off the track. "In race two, I understood that I had to pull everything out of the bag and I did that, so I'm gutted for the team as well because there's been a lot of hard work from everyone involved. "I think we have been the dominant force this season and I dare say we've been the best. We would have been worthy champions." Harvey has also confirmed that he will step up to the British F3 Series for 2011. "I'll definitely be in Formula Three next season and my backing from the Racing Steps Foundation will continue," he said. "The team I'll race for hasn't been confirmed but I'm sure whatever happens I'll be pushing even harder than this year."
