Swindon made it two wins in a row after beating Wolverhampton at the Abbey Stadium on Thursday. The Robins should have won the meeting by a greater margin but Maciek Janowski and Leigh Adams were excluded in the last two races. Swindon manager Ronnie Russell was unhappy: "They were two very poor decisions by the referee. "Referees in general have never ridden speedway bikes and they're not too sure what they do in the middle of corners." The meeting was full of controversy and incident - with Wolves losing Freddie Lindgren and Ty Proctor after a crash in heat five. | One of the highlights from tonight are that we scored points Swindon manager Ronnie Russell |
The Robins then took control of the meeting and after 11 heats led by 18 points before Jonowski and Adams found themselves excluded for causing other riders to fall. "One of the highlights from tonight are that we scored points," said Russell. "The other is that we saw what Janowski is actually capable of. He's had a total of only eight minutes around this track so he's not doing too bad." Under speedway's scoring system Swindon picked up two Elite League points - with Wolves taking one. The Robins are back in action again on Friday as they travel to Lakeside for a rearranged fixture. They will be without Mads Korneliussen, who is required back in Denmark. There is also a doubt over Simon Stead, who pulled out of Thursday's meeting with illness.
