Steve Plater has won eight times at the North West 200 |
Injured Lincolnshire rider Steve Plater is hoping to be fit to resume racing in time for the Cadwell Park round of the BSB Championship in August. The 41-year-old broke a neck bone in a high speed crash at the North West 200 earlier this year. Plater told BBC Lincolnshire: "I have had four operations that have all gone very well. "I have had four plates, two rods and 23 screws inserted, and I have also lost a lot of weight." Plater added: "It has been frustrating doing nothing but from this weekend I can start cycling and swimming. "Then within the next week I can get back in the gym on light duties. "When I am 100% fit I will race again, which realistically could be by August, but we will have to see how rehabilitation goes. "It would be great to be back for Cadwell Park on the August Bank Holiday as it is the home meeting for me and HM Plant Honda."
