Stoke Potters were beaten 54-36 by Workington in Saturday's Knockout Cup first leg tie in Cumbria. Craig Cook scored 18 points for Workington, while no Stoke rider reached double figures. The Potters will have to overturn a deficit of 18 points in the second leg at Loomer Road next Sunday if they are going to qualify for the next round. "We're left with a mountain to climb so we will need to get a good start," said Stoke promoter Dave Tattum. Jason Bunyan will again be missing for Stoke after he was ruled out for another two weeks with a knee injury. The skipper has not raced since picking up the injury on 10 April.
