Alexander Sims is in his second season in the F3 Euroseries |
Lincolnshire's Alexander Sims, 22, took victory at Silverstone in his first-ever Formula 3 race in Britain, in the F3 International series. Sims, who is a regular in the European F3 Euroseries with ART Grand Prix, was racing in the invitational class. He came 11th in the opening race and so started there in race two, but carved through the field in wet conditions to take the lead on lap five. He went on to win by eight seconds and set the fastest lap by nearly a second. Sims also finished fourth in the third race of the meeting after starting from 14th on the grid. He said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have won on my debut in British F3. "Practice and qualifying proved to be a bit of a challenge but everything worked out fantastically. "It was a bizarre feeling to be so much quicker than anyone else in race two and to win by eight seconds and from 11th on the grid was really something."
