Leeds striker Somma looking to earn first-team spot.
Somma has been a regular in Chris Sutton's Lincoln side
Leeds United's Davide Somma says he is looking to make his mark at Elland Road after signing a new deal at the club.
The striker is currently on loan at League Two side Lincoln City and has scored nine goals in 13 games.
But after agreeing a 12-month deal, the South African born front man is hoping to feature more prominently for Leeds.
"Hopefully I'll get my chance in the first team. Leeds is a massive club and everyone wants to play for them," he told BBC Radio Leeds.
The new contract is a great relief for Somma who feared that he had blown his chance at the club after getting injured on his debut.
"It really puts you down, especially coming into a game that you want to prove to the manager and you want to do well for the team, and I felt like I disappointed them," he said.
"Then I went to Chesterfield and the same thing happened there so my confidence was totally shot, but I got an opportunity to go to Lincoln and I finally did well."
It was the move to Sincil Bank that catapulted Somma into the League Two limelight with an impressive scoring record, not just with the amount of goals but also the quality of the strikes.
"I just wanted to come to Lincoln and do well." he said. "It's difficult when you go to a new team and you don't know how they play, but I was surprised at my performance.
"The gaffer [Chris Sutton] was good, I was working with him everyday and he taught me well, how to make my runs and I had good guys all around me."
But despite signing the new contract at Leeds, Somma has not ruled out another return to Lincoln.
"You never know, it's a huge window to me, but it all depends how well I do in pre-season at Leeds."
