Leeds United have signed former San Jose Earthquakes striker Davide Somma on a one-year deal.
The South African impressed during pre-season and the club has the option of extending his deal by another year.
United manager Simon Grayson told the club's website: "He has done enough to earn himself a contract. We have all been pleased with what we've seen.
"It's an opportunity for us to have a closer look at the player and it's a great opportunity for him."
The 24-year-old was born in Johannesburg but was raised in America.
Somma joins an illustrious list of South Africans to play for Leeds with Albert Johanneson, Lucas Radebe and Phil Masinga having worn the shirt before him.
