Lyons only dropped one point from his five rides |
Birmingham's near-perfect start to the season continued with a 60-32 triumph over Newcastle in the Premier League. Veteran skipper Jason Lyons found his best form of 2010 to lead the Brummies with 14 points, backed up by Richard Sweetman (12) and Aaron Summers (10). Newcastle held their hosts to a narrow four-point lead after four heats before back-to-back 5-1s changed the meeting. Justin Sedgmen's heat seven win prevented Rene Bach from scoring double points, ending the visitors' hopes. Summers and Steve Johnston were unbeaten by an opponent until heat 10, when the Diamonds best rider, Bach, produced an impressive ride. He top-scored for Newcastle with nine, a total matched by team-mate Dakota North.
