Stead spent the 2008 season on loan with Coventry |
Swindon Speedway have added Simon Stead and Morten Risager to their line-up for the 2010 season. Stead, 27, and 22-year-old Danish rider Risager both represented the club in 2009. They join Leigh Adams, Mads Korneliussen and Grzegorz Zengota in the Robins' top five for next season. Swindon co-owner Gary Patchett said: "Morten and Simon performed well during the 2009 season. We're confident both riders will start the season strongly." Risager was drafted into Swindon's 2009 team as a late replacement for Jurica Pavlic. He spent the early part of the campaign with Ipswich followed by a stint with Manchester's Belle Vue Aces. The Dane then came back to Swindon to help with the club's play-off charge. Stead spent a full campaign at Blunsdon in 2009. He finished the 2009 season with an Elite League average of 6.97. Patchett said: "We're pleased to welcome them both back for 2010. They were very keen to return to Blunsdon and are targeting increases on their starting averages. "Morten and Simon are now fully familiar with the Swindon set-up, have built up a rapport with the Swindon supporters and have good Blunsdon track knowledge. "We're confident both riders will continue to develop over the course of the season."
