Adams first rode for Swindon Robins back in 1990 |
Swindon Robins rider Leigh Adams has announced the 2010 campaign will be his final one in Europe, after 20 years in the sport. The 38-year-old has been granted a farewell meeting at the Abbey Stadium as well as an event at Adams' second club Leszno in Poland. Adams told BBC Wiltshire: "I've been toying with the idea for a couple of years but things have been going good. "You've just got to draw a line under it somewhere. Its just the right time" He added: "I've got a family to worry about and I'm not getting any younger." Currently in his third spell at the Abbey Stadium, Adams became Swindon's all time top points scorer in 2008. "Swindon has been fantastic for me, its been my home. I'm going to miss it big time, they've been fantastic for me. "We've got a lot of great riders coming through that I've brought in from Australia. I think its set up pretty well for when I retire." The former world number two will end his speedway career in England on 17 October.
