Coventry skipper Harris won his second British final at Poole in May |
Coventry captain Chris Harris has agreed terms to stay for a seventh season at Brandon. The Bees have confirmed that teenager Josh Auty will be available to ride for Coventry in the Elite League when not on Premier League duty for Sheffield. "The move from Redcar to Sheffield Tigers did Josh Auty good," said Bees promoter Colin Pratt. "As for Chris, he's always worked hard for our club. And I'm confident that we will see even more from him next year." Reigning British champion Harris raised his average to a personal best 8.54 in 2009. And Pratt is impressed with the way a top rider continues to get better. "Chris improved his average last year," said Pratt. "And it was also good to see that his gating was much more consistent in the final weeks of the season. | He seemed to improve week by week, as we saw from the meetings he did for us Promoter Colin Pratt on Josh Auty |
"It's always easier to climb the ladder as he did a few years ago, resulting in his British Grand Prix win, than it is to stay there. "It's like when you score your first maximum. Everyone expects the same again every week." Auty, 19, who has been a Coventry asset for just over two years, put in several fine displays last season. Following his switch from Redcar, he will continue his development in the Premier League with Sheffield. But he will be available to race for the Bees except on occasions when there is a fixture clash with the Tigers. "He seemed to improve week by week, as we saw from the meetings he did for us," said Pratt. "So we're pleased to confirm that he's back with us to double up next season."
