Sarah Moore races for her family team Tockwith Motorsport |
North Yorkshire's Sarah Moore finished second in the latest round of the Ginetta Junior Championship at Knockhill circuit in Fife. Moore, 15, failed to complete the first race after being hit by another car but she came back strongly in the second race to secure a podium finish. Moore said: "Being put out of the first race was really disappointing. "Thankfully it just made me really annoyed and determined to do well in race two - which I did." After going into the weekend top of the points table, Moore's retirement from the first race saw her drop to third. But after finishing second in race two she remains the favourite for the championship title. The impact of the crash in the first race broke the steering rack of her Ginetta Junior car as she failed to finish for the first time this season. "Fighting for the title is getting difficult now and it was frustrating to lose the championship lead after holding it for so long," she said. "But I know I'll get back up to the top of the standings before long. We've still got nine races left." While in Scotland, Moore also took part in the British Touring Car Championship. A mini street course was set up around the castle, attracting crowds of 18,000 people. Moore said: "It was awesome. There were thousands of people and they were all cheering when I drove up alongside the castle. The city was really buzzing and I spent almost an hour signing autographs." Moore's younger brother David also put in a strong performance at Knockhill, taking an eighth and an 11th-place finish.
