Despite reports to the contrary, Isle of Man sidecar ace and 14 time TT winner Dave Molyneux says he has no plans to retire from the sport.

The Manxman said: "I've no intention to retire, however financially times are hard and it comes down to money.

"If I can pull together a deal for the 2010 TT, I will definitely be there."

The 46-year-old is the most successful sidecar driver in the Isle of Man event's history and is joint-third with Mike Hailwood overall.

He continued: "I don't feel I have anything to prove to anyone, I just love the sport. I have been involved with sidecars my entire life and I still want to race."

In 2009, Molyneux, together with passenger Dan Sayle, won Sidecar TT Race one, however the 14-time champion ended the event £5,000 out of pocket.

If I can pull together the right package, I will be out for win number 15 next year

Molyneux continued: "Perhaps I'm perceived as a character but the sport needs characters and my reputation on the track speaks for itself, If I can pull together the right package, I will be out for win number 15 next year.

I've won 14 TTs, which makes me level with Mike Hailwood and I'm only one behind John [McGuinness] so I would love to win a few more."

Considering that solo riders compete in five races each year, compared to just two for the sidecar competitiors, Molyneux's record is even more impressive.

In fact, in his 36 TT outings since his debut in 1984, the Manx star has achieved 22 podiums.
