This is only Camier's third season in the British Superbike Championship |
British Superbike rider Leon Camier is refusing to admit he has wrapped up the title, despite claiming a hat-trick of victories at Brands Hatch. The 22-year-old, from Ashford, holds a healthy 113.5 point lead, with four rounds of the championship remaining. "There's still a long way to go," he told BBC Radio Kent. "Anything can happen. It only takes a little injury or freak accident to stop my success. There's 75 points up for grabs at the last round alone." He added: "I'm just taking it one race at a time." | It's a bit overwhelming. It's an awesome feeling. It was just a perfect weekend |
Following his 14th win this year, Camier broke Neil McKenzie's 12 year record for the most number of wins in a season. He admits it was always in the back of his mind. "Everyone was making a fuss out of it. But I just tried to concentrate on what I was doing and it worked out pretty well," he said. Camier acknowledged the home support after his success at the Kent circuit. "The fans were absolutely awesome. They gave me a big boost. "It's a bit overwhelming. It's an awesome feeling. It was just a perfect weekend - absolutely perfect."
