Camier nearing Superbikes title

Leon Camier
This is only Camier's third season in the British Superbike Championship

British Superbike rider Leon Camier is refusing to admit he has wrapped up the title, despite claiming a hat-trick of victories at Brands Hatch.

The 22-year-old, from Ashford, holds a healthy 113.5 point lead, with four rounds of the championship remaining.

"There's still a long way to go," he told BBC Radio Kent.

"Anything can happen. It only takes a little injury or freak accident to stop my success. There's 75 points up for grabs at the last round alone."

He added: "I'm just taking it one race at a time."

It's a bit overwhelming. It's an awesome feeling. It was just a perfect weekend

Following his 14th win this year, Camier broke Neil McKenzie's 12 year record for the most number of wins in a season.

He admits it was always in the back of his mind.

"Everyone was making a fuss out of it. But I just tried to concentrate on what I was doing and it worked out pretty well," he said.

Camier acknowledged the home support after his success at the Kent circuit.

"The fans were absolutely awesome. They gave me a big boost.

"It's a bit overwhelming. It's an awesome feeling. It was just a perfect weekend - absolutely perfect."
