McGowan earned his first maximum of the season for the Robins |
Swindon extended their lead at the top of the Elite League to five points with a 49-41 victory at Belle Vue. Reserve Travis McGowan was the star of the show for the Robins, scoring a 15-point maximum, with good support from Leigh Adams and Matej Zagar. McGowan told BBC Wiltshire the league table makes for good reading, but they still have plenty of work to do. "We deserve to be where we are, but it's coming to crunch time now so we can't let things slip," McGowan said. He added: "It does make a little bit of a difference, but the way I was gating tonight it wouldn't have mattered. "It's a wonderful result and I'm always a confident guy so I'm sure I can do that again." Swindon needed a late surge to take the victory, with the scores level at 36-all going into the final three races. The meeting was McGowan's first at reserve this season, after Ryan Fisher's impressive form saw him move into the main body of the team. Belle Vue: Krzysztof Kasprzak 11, Patrick Hougaard 8+1, Morten Risager 4+2, James Wright 7+1, Ulrich Ostergaard 10+2, Jason Lyons 1+1 Swindon: Leigh Adams 13, Ryan Fisher 3+1, Jurica Pavlic 1, Simon Stead 6, Matej Zagar 10+1, Paul Hurry 1, Travis McGowan 15
