Bees miss Schlein in Wolves loss

The Coventry Bees captain Chris Harris believes the absence of Rory Schlein was a major factor in their Elite League defeat by Wolverhampton.

The home side won 54-39 at Monmore Green on Monday, with Bees using rider replacement for the injured Schlein.

Harris told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "Without Rory it was going to be a tough night because he's been going well this year.

"The racing was good from both sides. Everybody was fair and hard."

Schlein broke his collarbone and sustained a number of other injuries in a crash at Brandon earlier this month.

It couldn't have come at a worse time. It spoilt my chances of getting a medal at the World Cup

It cost him his place in the Australian side that picked up a silver medal at the World Cup at the weekend

The Aussie rider said: "It couldn't have come at a worse time. It spoilt my chances of getting a medal at the World Cup.

"It's one of those things and I've been in this situation before. Some people might say too many times.

"But I heal pretty quick. We'll see how the physio goes and play it by ear I guess."
