COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION ONE, Rose Bowl: CLOSE OF PLAY, DAY ONE: Warwickshire 30-0 21 - 24 July 2009
Rain prevented all but 13.4 overs being bowled on the first day of the County Championship match between Hampshire and Warwickshire at the Rose Bowl. Given the wet conditions it was a surprise any play was possible, but Warwickshire won the toss and batted. A storm forced the players off in the seventh over with the visitors on 19-0. Play resumed a little more than an hour later and Warwickshire added a further 11 runs before more heavy rain washed out any chance of a resumption. Warwickshire had one scare when Ian Westwood appeared to fend a sharply rising delivery from Chris Tremlett to gully, but appeals for a catch were dismissed because the ball had struck the Warwickshire opener high on the arm.
